Child Outreach is a universal developmental screening system designed to screen all children, aged three to five years old. Screening serves as a first step in the identification of children who might have developmental delays or disabilities and who could benefit from intervention.

Highlander is a public charter school open to Rhode Island Students from Pre-K-12th grade.

By Rhode Island Law and regulations from the Rhode Island Department of Education, students are admitted to Highlander by lottery. This lottery determines which applicants are enrolled the following school year.

In Highlander’s case, 75% of the students admitted to our school through lottery are Providence residents. The other 25% admitted through lottery are from other Rhode Island cities. Mission
Using innovative education practices as a catalyst for social change Highlander Charter School is working to ensure that all children have the educational opportunities and support they need to achieve their full potential.

Since opening, Highlander has increased enrollment to its current full enrollment at 632 students in grades pre-k through 12. The school provides personalized education that engages students and is relevant to their interests and experiences.

When completing the form, you must choose either the Spanish/English or Portuguese/English strand, and submit the form by the deadline below to be entered into the annual lottery to be held on April 1, 2021.

The RINI Middle College is an open enrollment public charter school that enrolls students from across the state of Rhode Island. As a statewide charter school, we purposefully seek to enroll a demographically diverse student body as essential to our mission of diversifying the future nursing and healthcare workforce. When RINI receives more enrollment applications than available seats, admission is determined through a blind lottery.

RINI Middle College students are afforded a rigorous high school curricula, early college classes, opportunities to earn workforce certificates in health care (First Aid, CPR ,CNA, EMT), and internships/employment in RI health care facilities for exposure to the nursing profession.

Students entering the 9th grade are allowed to enroll as first year students after successfully completing their 8th grade year at another school.

Students who are successful in their first year take a combination of high school and college courses through URI, CCRI, RIC and RWU during their third and fourth years.

The Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College Charter High School, located in Providence, opened during the summer of 2011 to educate the next generation of nurses with a focus on academic rigor, leadership development, and workforce readiness. We are the first public charter high school in the U.S. focused on the profession of nursing and the first middle college in the State of RI.

The mission of the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College is to prepare a diverse group of students to become the highly educated and professional nursing workforce of the future.

The Compass School is a public K-8th grade charter school and in accordance with our charter, enrollment is through a lottery which is open to all RI residents.

Special Education Advisory Committee

The Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) enables parents/guardians of special education scholars to be more informed and effective in their advocacy efforts; ensures quality education for all scholars to achieve their highest academic potential; advises the BVP network on matters concerning the unmet needs of scholars with disabilities; and comments on local compliance with state and federal laws pertaining to the education of scholars with disabilities. A free service for children ages 3,4, and 5 who live in the Newport School District

What areas will my child's screening address?

• Vision
• Hearing
• Language
• Social Development
• General Development such as motor skills, memory, etc...

The screening provides a review of child's skills in these areas, compared to standard milestones or expectations. This screening is different from a medical check-up, and does not take the place of visits to the doctor. This screening is in addition to your child's medical care, and aims to ensure that your little one is on track developmentally.

Please contact Nichole Bussiere, Early Childhood Coordinator, at 401-619-3162 to schedule your child's screening. We encourage you to schedule a screening once each year while your child is three, four, and five.

NEL/CPS is one of three comprehensive high schools in Cranston. We
are also a public charter school with a statewide catchment area, which
means we can offer programs that are distinctively different from other
schools and we can accept students from any city or town in the State.

YouthBuild Preparatory Academy Inc.’s intention is to operate a school – the YouthBuild Preparatory Academy Alternative School or YouthBuild Prep, while open to all, will have focused on boys and young men. We promote social and emotional wellness for each of our students while providing academic support and servicing the unique needs of students from urban core communities. Our model is comprised of academic coursework and applied learning that creates community leaders who successfully transition into post-secondary education careers.

YouthBuild Preparatory Academy is an affiliate of YouthBuild USA, a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping low-income young people become educated, productive adults in their communities. We are one of roughly 226 YouthBuild programs, nationally.
