The Children's Neurodevelopment Center (CNDC) at Hasbro Children's Hospital provides evaluation and treatment of children with neurological, genetic, developmental, metabolic and behavioral disorders. The center incorporates multidisciplinary care with pediatric urology, orthopedics, neurosurgery and craniofacial programs.


The center is located on Prairie Avenue, in an area designed to be particularly spacious, comfortable and welcoming to children and their parents, who are essential partners in their children's care.

Bradley DeNardo, MD, is a board-certified pediatrician who specializes in pediatric hematology and oncology at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. He is an assistant professor of pediatrics at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After attending The Warren Alpert Medical School, Dr. DeNardo continued dedicating his time to the medical students there by instructing them in pediatrics for the following nine years. In addition, Dr. DeNardo is a consulting physician at Women and Infants Hospital.

Roma Bhuta, DO, is a pediatrician who specializes in hematology/oncology at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. She is an assistant professor at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.

The Sickle Cell and Thalassemia Program provides comprehensive care for children with hemoglobinopathies. Both outpatient and inpatient care are available in a supportive, respectful atmosphere. Our team often meets the family at birth (or even sooner, with prenatal diagnosis) and provides care into adulthood. Multidisciplinary care is carefully coordinated among the families, schools, physicians and nurses with many different areas of expertise. More about the Hemoglobinopathy Service.

In keeping with our mission, we are also active educators in the community and the hospital. We teach residents, fellows, nurses and pediatricians in the care of children with hemoglobinopathies. We are active members of the New England Pediatric Sickle Cell Consortium, which is a regional group interested in promoting care for children with sickle cell disease.

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology

Wen-I Chang, MD, is a pediatrician in the division of pediatric hematology/oncology at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Her clinical interests include genomics in cancer and cancer predisposition syndromes. She is a member of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, the Children’s Oncology Group, and the American Association of Cancer Research.

Rishi R. Lulla, MD, MS, is the chief of pediatric hematology/oncology at Hasbro Children’s Hospital and an international expert in the care of children and young adults with brain and spinal cord tumors.

At Next Step, we work with young people 16-29 years old who are living with both the immediate and long-term impact of cancer, HIV/AIDS or rare genetic disorders.
